Description: This third installment of the Faith & Doubt sermon series from Rev. John Ortberg and Menlo Park Presbyterian Church presented May 27, 2007. This DVD includes the entire worship service with the sermon titled, "Help My Unbelief". In general a person cannot choose what to believe there and then. Belief is something that happens to a person, not something he or she does. There is a fundamental difference between belief and commitment. A decision will require total commitment even when we don't have total certainty. Ortberg uses the story from Mark 9, the transfiguration, God revealing Himself and follows up with the story of the healing of a boy with a spirit whose father states, "help me overcome my unbelief!" The question is: How about us? Something about His peace draws us to Him as it has drawn people all over the world to Him for 2000 years and draws them still. If you never believe, if you never hope, if you never trust, you will never know.
