This kit contains one DVD, one Participant Book, and one Leader Guide. They are designed for a 60-90 minute weekly meeting. The DVD contains two video presentations. Part One presents a montage of images accompanied by a dramatic reading of a passage from the week's assigned Scriptures. Part Two features two conversations: The first one involves a biblical scholar (or scholars), and the second one takes pace among a small group. Both conversations center around some portion of the week's readings in John and address a particular topic that emerges from them. The Participant Book outlines daily reading assignments for group preparations and contains commentary on the session theme. The Leader Guide suggests discussion activities for use in the weekly meetings.
This study offers the participants an in-depth study of the Book of John, the Gospel which is set apart from the others because instead of speaking in parables, Jesus speaks in lengthy discourses. It is designed to help the participants consider anew what it means to be his followers. The following scholars are on the DVD: Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, Dr. Susan E. Hylen, Dr. Ben Witherington, III, and Dr. Craig R. Koester. This is a "Disciple" Short-Term Bible Study. |
