Description: Travel with Adam Hamilton to the Holy Land and explore the places where Jesus called his disciples and did his ministry. In six lessons, plus an epilogue, we will visit the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized and walk the wilderness where Jesus was tempted. We see the ruins of Capernaum where Jesus performed miracles and climb the Mount of the Beatitudes. We will also sail across the Sea of Galilee and finally visit Jerusalem where Jesus spent his last days on earth and arose from the dead to give hope to all people of salvation and resurrection. The six sessions are 1) Baptism and Temptation - The Jordan River and the Wilderness - As Adam Hamilton leads us into the Jordan River, into the caves of Mount Temptation and into the desolation of the Judean Wilderness we are invited to recall our baptism when we became a part of God's family and to remember that Jesus experienced temptation, lonliness and doubt just as we do. 2) The Healing Ministry - Capernaum - Walking with Hamilton through the ruins of the ancient city of Capernaum and beside the Sea of Galilee we hear the story of Jesus calling fishermen to be his disciples and stories of the healings Jesus did among the people of Capernaum. 3) Proclaiming the Kingdom - The Mountains - In this third segment we go to the top of the Mount of Beatitudes as well as visit the Church of the Beatitudes. Jesus gave us the Beatitudes to show us the ideal that we should strive for each and every day. We also need to take time regularly to walk quietly in God's company. 4) Calming the Storm - The Sea of Galilee - Hamilton reads the story of Jesus calming the sea as we ride in a fishing boat across the Sea of Galilee. We are reminded that God travels with us in all the storms of our life and we are safe when God is "in our boat." 5) Sinners, Outcasts and the Poor - Samaria - Jesus spent time among the outcast, poor and marginalized. As we visit the ruins of Kursi we hear the story of Jesus healing the demon possessed man. We also visit Sychar and the well where Jesus offered the Samaritan woman "living water." We are to mirror Jesus' life by seeking out those in need and offer them an opportunity of a new life in Christ. 6) The Final Week - Jerusalem - All of the events of Jesus life are leading to Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives and the Temple Mount remind us of the events of the last week of Jesus life and all that he sacrificed to save us. 7) Epilogue - Your Defining Story - The story of Jesus is not complete without the story of Easter so in this last segment Hamilton takes us on a final glimpse of the places Jesus appeared after his Resurrection.
